In the Thane district, the number of patients suffering from the coronavirus has been witnessing an increase every day.
In the last 25 days, more than 40,000 fresh cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the district. Most of these cases are from Kalyan-Dombivali and Thane. As per reports, there are 10,000 COVID-19 positive patients in Kalyan-Dombivali and 8,000 in Thane city. Moreover, half of the total patients in the entire district are from these two cities.
In Kalyan-Dombivali, 400 to 500 fresh cases are being reported every day. As of now, the total number of patients suffering from the coronavirus in the Thane district has reached 1,64,000. Out of this, 1,41,000 have been cured whereas 18,345 patients are still undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, 4,234 people have succumbed to the disease so far.
A month back, 1,000 to 1,200 cases were reported in the district every day. However, over the last few days, more than 1,700 patients are being reported. The instance of the coronavirus has increased in the Kalwa, Naupada, Manpada-Majivada, Vartaknagar areas.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra in the last 24 hours clocked 19,164 fresh cases for the novel coronavirus propelling the state's COVID-19 tally to 12,82,963. At present, there are 2,74,993 active cases in the state. With 17,184 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 9,73,214.
