Corona viruses are constantly mutating. Therefore, new viruses are emerging. Patients of 'JN1', a new coronavirus, are being found in China and America and its first patient has been found in Kerala, India. A 79-year-old woman was found to have a disruption of 'JN1' during the ongoing corona test under the Indian Sars Corona Genomic Cursotium.


An elderly woman was found to be infected with 'JN1' in Karakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on December 8. The woman was tested for coronavirus (RT PCR) on November 18. She had mild symptoms. She was also feeling a little weak. But now she is in good health, the Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research, Dr. By Rajeev Bahl.

'JN1' is a subtype of Corona virus belonging to the 'BA.2.86' group. Commonly known as Pirola. The situation in the area where the new coronavirus patient was found is being monitored by the Union Health Ministry and the state government is reviewing the situation. Also, in the background of this new virus of Corona, the health department has been ordered to be ready in various states and mock drills are being conducted through the District Collectors. Corona patients are increasing in Kerala since the last few weeks. Most of these patients have mild symptoms and recover at home.


Although the number of corona patients has decreased worldwide, it has been observed that there has been a slight increase in the number of corona patients in America, China and Singapore in the beginning of December. For the past several months, patients affected by subtypes of Corona have been found more or less in various countries. 


'No reason to worry'

Kerala Health Minister Veena George clarified that the 'JN.1' subtype of the 'Covid-19' virus found in Kerala is not alarming. The subtype was found in Indian passengers screened at the Singapore airport a few months ago. However, there is no reason to panic or worry about this, said George.
