According to reports, the ‘H’ west ward which constitutes Bandra West, Khar East and Santacruz West has the highest growth rate for the coronavirus even though the number of active cases is not very high.

In a substantial development, the ward has 384 active fresh cases and ranks amongst the lowest ten wards in case tally. According to authorities, most of the COVID-19 cases clocked on this ward are however either asymptomatic or show mild symptoms.

In a report by Free Press Journal, Bhagyashree Kapse, Assistant Municipal Commissioner and in-charge of RC (Borivli) ward has stated that 54 per cent of the fresh infections are among those who have attended functions or have travelled recently and 25 per cent of the new cases are their close contacts.

Meanwhile, on Monday, March 8, Maharashtra recorded 8,744 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus which propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 22,28,471. Currently, there are 97,637 active cases in the state. With 9,068 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered patients soared to 20,77,112.

More than 22 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 52,500. While 4,41,702 persons are under home quarantine, 4,098 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 93.21 per cent, and 2.36 per cent respectively.

On the other hand, on Monday, Mumbai reported 1,008 new COVID-19 cases, 956 recoveries and four deaths taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 3,34,572. According to data shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), there are 10,779 active cases whereas 3,11,407 patients have completely recovered so far.
