The State of Maharashtra is currently contending with a high number of coronavirus cases. At the same time, the state is also facing an acute shortage of blood.
NCP MLA and State Housing Minister, Jitendra Awhad has said that the state only has enough blood to last the next seven to eight days.
The pandemic has seen a historic dip in blood donation numbers from the citizens. Officials believe that fear of contracting COVID-19 continues to be a deterrent for many volunteers.
