According to a data revealed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the city was just 15,000 doses away as of Friday, April 1, to achieve the target of 100 per cent COVID-19 vaccinations of adults.

The civic body official, however, claimed that it was expecting to attain this mark by Tuesday, April 5.

As the vaccination drive resumes today, April 4, after two days hiatus, it will be riveting to see how more close Mumbaikars have reached to 100 per cent vaccinated mark. The inoculation in municipal and state-operated vaccination centres was closed on Saturday, April 2, and Sunday, April 3.

As per reports, a total of 9,482,393 doses of the second shot have been administered in the civic, state-operated, and private vaccination centres in Mumbai. While its original target adult population was 92.3 lakh, the latest figure is beyond the target as it also includes just turned 18-year-old adults.

Until Friday, a total of 20,563,140 (2.05 crore) doses have been administered since January 16, 2021, of which 10,672,748 are the first dose, 9,482,393 are the second dose, and 40,7999 are the precaution doses.

Of these, 12,924,911 doses have been administered in municipal vaccination centres, 930,996 doses have been administered in state and central government-operated centres, and 6,366,946 doses have been administered in private vaccination centres.

At present, 310 COVID-19 vaccination centres (CVCs) across the city are operational, of which 160 are municipal, 18 are state, and 132 private.

Earlier, Mumbai had over 400 inoculation centres operational at the peak of the vaccination drive between June and November 2021.

For those unversed, Mumbai achieved a 100 per cent vaccination mark of the first dose on November 13, 2021.

Besides, Maharashtra on Saturday, April 2 has inoculated 16,16,63,360 people.

On Sunday, April 3, Maharashtra reported 117 new COVID-19 cases. Of which, Mumbai accounted for 35 fresh coronavirus cases, followed by 19 in Pimpri-Chinchwad, 16 in Pune city, 11 in Ahmednagar district, and 10 in Buldhana district.
