Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has reportedly started collecting ward-wise data of patients who have been bedridden and want to get vaccinated for the coronavirus.

Moreover, the BMC has issued a form for the same at each ward urging them to submit the details of the patients. According to reports, the form requires you to state the name of the patient, age, sex, the reason for being bedridden, duration and willingness to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

Several elderly and bedridden patients across Mumbai have not been able to get vaccinated due to the inability of travelling to vaccination centres. In addition, most of these families belong to poor economic backgrounds as a result of which they cannot afford ambulances to ferry them in order to get vaccinated. However, as most of them have underlying health issues, they become more susceptible to COVID-19.

On the other hand, the BMC has recently finished building the city’s largest public toilet at Juhu Galli in Andheri (West). Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) President Bhai Jagtap inaugurated the facility on July 3.

This community toilet will have 60 seats and will include a separate section for women on the ground floor. Officials said that four toilet blocks will be reserved for differently-abled individuals.

Among the amenities at this public lavatory are Wi-Fi access, a waiting area with newspapers, and a television. Speaking on the occasion, Jagtap said that they will add 28 more seats to the existing 60 seats.
