BMC sends 2 teams for relief work in Raigad and Kolhapur

​​​​On Sunday, July 25, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) sent two teams to carry out relief work in flood-hit Mahad at Raigad as well as to Kolhapur, following directions from Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

On Sunday, July 25, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) sent two teams to carry out relief work in flood-hit Mahad at Raigad as well as to Kolhapur, following directions from Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

In a tweet, the BMC said that the team that visited Mahad comprised a medical team of four doctors and two technicians as well as 110 officials and staffers, including 75 of the solid waste management department. They took a mobile laboratory, four water tankers and one towing lorry, among other materials with them.

Medical matters are being managed by the Lokmanya Tilak General Hospital of the Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Dr Mohan Joshi, the superintendent of Lokmanya Tilak General Hospital of BMC, is managing all medical matters.

Meanwhile, according to a statement released by the BMC on Sunday, July 25, the team that has been dispatched to Kolhapur will take necessary action on rainwater and sewage in the flood-hit area. The team carries recycling machines and other necessary equipment. It is coordinating with additional municipal commissioner Suresh Kakani. Besides, Sunil Sardar, Deputy Chief Engineer, Solid Waste Management Department's help is also being sought while using the machinery of the corporation.

As per state government data, the number of deaths due to rain-related incidents in parts of Maharashtra reached 149. More than 100 people were missing after the monsoon fury. So far, 50 people have also been injured in these incidents, it said in a statement.
