As the cases of coronavirus witnesses a surge in Mumbai, the civic body of the city, BMC, is said to initiate an extensive study on the trends with regards to the coronavirus amongst the people in Mumbai.

Moreover, this research is said to be made available globally and is to be used as a benchmark for public health in future if such a crisis occurs again.

As per reports, the BMC is to study all the localities across the city which is to include the plush areas of South Mumbai to the slum clusters in Dharavi. On the other hand, the civic body is to evaluate the medical staff and the treatment that was being offered to the people amidst the pandemic and how it varied across the socio-economic spectrum. In addition, a total of 78 hospitals which is to include jumbo COVID-19 centres, dedicated COVID-19 health centres etc. are to be evaluated.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the BMC plans on documenting every aspect which would include the effect of medicines on patients depending on their age and extent of infection; chances of recovery based on their socio-economic background; and nutrition during the treatment.

This research could provide to be useful given that Maharashtra has been the hotbed for the coronavirus with Mumbai being the epicentre. In addition, to safeguard ourselves better in the future, this study could prove to be extremely beneficial.
