Maharashtra: Centre Sends Teams of Health Experts As COVID Cases Surge

The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, said on July 12 that the Centre has already sent teams to multiple states such as Maharashtra and Kerala in the wake of rising coronavirus cases. 

“Central government's team is working on the ground. We are continuously monitoring the situation, taking feedbacks from State governments regularly,” Pawar said while speaking to news agency ANI.

Pawar added that the guidelines offered by the Centre should be followed by the states and stressed the need for people to continue wearing masks and avoid public gatherings or crowded spaces.

The MoS went on to say that the Centre will take other measures to assist states, adding that the newly appointed Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia is conducting regular meetings with individual states.

The Health Ministry said that India recorded 37,154 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the active caseload to 4,50,899.
