Days after testing positive for coronavirus, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's wife Rashmi Thackeray on Tuesday, March 30, was admitted to H N Reliance hospital in South Mumbai for treatment.

Rashmi Thackeray had tested positive for COVID-19 on March 23 and remained home quarantined since then, an official said.

According to sources, she was experiencing a persistent cough and feeling weak. She was admitted to the hospital so that she gets proper medical attention. 

Earlier, the chief minister's son and minister Aaditya Thackeray had also tested positive for coronavirus.

Rashmi Thackeray is the editor of 'Saamana', the mouthpiece of the Shiv Sena.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst impacted state in India in terms of coronavirus. On Tuesday, the state reported a slight dip in daily cases. Maharashtra reported over 27,000 infections in the last 24 hours as against over 31,000 cases recorded on 29 March. With the addition of the new caseload, there are 3,40,542 active cases in the state. The overall death toll too has reached 54,422, while the case fatality rate is at 1.96 per cent.

On Monday, Maharashtra also conducted 1,36,848 tests as opposed to 1,65,591 done on Sunday.
