The much-awaited Coronavirus vaccine is here, and as per the directives given by the Central Government, the vaccine is being given currently to healthcare workers and other frontline warriors. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray inaugurated the vaccination drive in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on January 16, 2021. While it is available on a limited basis now, it is said that the vaccine will be made available across Mumbai's medical stores from March 2021.

As per reports, Bharat Biotech has started preparations for the same. The Serum Institute may also launch Covishield in September 2021, which is expected to cost between INR 900 and INR 1,000. Meanwhile, India is all set to launch Biotech Covacin on March 24, the day on which the lockdown was imposed across India.

The head of the vaccine firm has stated that the company is currently supplying the vaccine to the government. However, vaccine storage facilities have been inspected after a meeting with the distributor, and the release date of the same will be decided soon and eventually announced. Government approval is not required to bring the vaccine to market.

Adding more, the officials have stated that the firm is fully prepared to bring this vaccine to market by the end of March 2021.

On the other hand, Ajay Dwivedi, Regional Sales Manager, Serum Institute of India, has stated that 50 per cent of the current production is being exported to the country and the rest is being sent abroad. This vaccine will be on the market by August 2021.

Both these two vaccines are designed for those over 18 years of age. Covaxin has been approved for trial in children, and the same will start in 15 days at 15 centres across the country. Apart from biotech injection vaccine, India is also working on nasal spray, basis which doctors are trying to get rid of the infection as well.

Two doses of the corona vaccine are being given worldwide. While the first is mandatory, the second dose is being given as a booster. Malik added that India is also working on a single dose to destroy the virus, however, two doses are given worldwide for flash fever.
