As on May 30, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the Satellite township of Mira Bhayandar (MBMC) was 647. Given the increasing number of cases, MLA, Pratap Sarnaik had demanded a dedicated COVID-19 hospital for Mira Bhayandar. He had put this proposal in front of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and also expressed that this facility should be ready before the onset of monsoon.

As per his tweet, the facility has been given a green signal and Rs 15 crore has been sanctioned for the same.

There has been a spike in the number of cases in Mira Bhayandar. On May 30th, there was a news report that stated that a 5-day-old baby had tested COVID-19 positive from this area. The baby girl hails from Bhola Nagar in Bhayandar (west).

It is noteworthy that earlier, there was a total lockdown in place in MBMC. However, now certain relaxations have been allowed. Under these relaxations shops selling essential items, grocery and bakery along with public utility goods can remain open between 11 am and 5 pm. However, the shops that sell vegetable, fruit, fish, mutton and chicken shops will have to remain shut and only home delivery of these items has been allowed.

Whether there will be more relaxations available under Unlock 1 is something that remains to be seen.

Here's a list of all containment zones in Mira Bhayandar as on May 30
