The civic body of Mumbai is reportedly preparing a list of private hospitals in the city that are to administer the vaccine for COVID-19.

According to sources, with the vaccination drive being ongoing across the state, the vaccine for the coronavirus is likely to soon be available in private hospitals.

Moreover, a decision regarding the same is expected in the next two to three days. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has reportedly prepared a list of private hospitals in the city. These hospitals are touted to have all the facilities required for vaccination, waiting rooms, observation room and emergency medical facilities in view of COVID-19.

In the first phase, 1.25 lakh health workers have been vaccinated in Mumbai. In the second phase, front line employees and in the third phase, citizens below 50 years of age will be vaccinated. The municipal administration has decided to expand its vaccination centre as it wants to vaccinate more people for the second and third phase.

Meanwhile, earlier on January 16, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched the vaccination drive for the coronavirus in the state and inaugurated the vaccination centre at BKC. In Maharashtra, this drive is being conducted five days every week- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. With 34,889 persons including 15,593 healthcare workers being inoculated against the novel coronavirus on Thursday, February 11, the total number of vaccinated individuals in the state has soared to 6,08,570.

On the other hand, on Thursday, February 11, Maharashtra recorded 3,297 fresh cases of the coronavirus taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 20,52,905. Currently, there are 30,265 active cases in the state. With 6,107 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,70,053. However, Mumbai continues to be a major novel coronavirus hotspot clocking 510 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.
