Coronavirus has now entered Maharashtra. Pune-based couple were first to test positive for COVID-19. Post their result came positive, the officials, have been trying to trace everyone they may have come in contact with them. So far, five people in Pune have tested positive for coronavirus and as a result, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also quarantined six people and admitted them to Kasturba Hospital.

The Pune couple had travelled to Dubai before being diagnosed with the novel virus. Apart from the couple, the three others in Pune who are infected were in close contact with them. One of them is their daughter. A fellow passenger too has tested positive and also the driver of the cab that they took from Mumbai Airport to Pune has found to be infected with COVID 19.

After these five people tested positive, the authorities formed teams to trace the 40 other tourists who had travelled with them. These people include six from Mumbai and BMC has now admitted them as a precautionary measure. No Mumbaikar has been reported to have been infected with the coronavirus.

The medical reports of the six tourists are expected to come soon. Meanwhile, the condition of all infected individuals is said to be stable. 

Meanwhile, the domestic helpers who used to work at the housing society where the affected couple reside have been told to not visit the society premises by the residents of neighbouring housing societies.

After the five confirmed cases of coronavirus were reported in Maharashtra, the State Education Department issued a notice to all the institutions stating that students should not attend classes if they are unwell. Further, officials asked the school authorities to issue an advisory for the dos and don'ts abut the COVID-19 outbreak. 

The circular read,

"Students need to be told about basic precautions like covering their mouths while coughing and sneezing; washing their hands with a good soap; and not coming to school if they are sick, among other measures. Apart from taking care of themselves, students can also help generate awareness within their families, friends and peer groups."

Recently, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had also issued a notice to Universities to ensure that there are no large gatherings on the campus.
