In a bid to cater to the increasing number of cases of Coronavirus in the city, State Health Minister Rajesh Tope stated that King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital will have the city's second testing center for Coronavirus after Kasturba Hospital.

As of Monday, March 16, Maharashtra has recorded 37 positive cases of Coronavirus. Further, the Health Minister stated that KEM Hospital in Parel will have a testing capacity of 250 samples from Wednesday, March 18. The testing capacity of the civic-run hospital is set to more than double with BMC procuring more machinery. From 100 samples, it plans to process nearly 350 a day. Moreover, Kasturba Hospital will get 32 TV sets, newspapers and wi-fi.

Here's the list of quarantined locations: 

  1. Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (CREDAI)-Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI) has been tasked with identifying and designating 4-5 ideal buildings as quarantine locations if required.
  2. The Seven Hills Hospital building at Andheri East is proposed to be a quarantine facility and is being equipped with facilities for the same.
  3. The MCGM Centre for Municipal Capacity Building and Research (MCMCR) building at Chandivali, Powai is yet another spot being prepared for quarantine in case of an emergency.

Further, in the coming 15-20 days, tests can even be conducted at JJ hospital and Haffkine institute in Mumbai and B J Medical College in Pune. More than a 100 beds have been arranged and kept in isolation wards at Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, KB Bhabha Hospital in Bandra, KB Bhabha Municipal Hospital in Kurla and Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care in Jogeshwari.
