Maharashtra Reports 9,181 New Coronavirus Cases, Death Toll Crosses 18,000 Mark

The number of recoveries have reached 3,58,421 and there are currently 1,47,735 active cases in the state.

Maharashtra reported 9,181 fresh COVID-19 cases and the state-wide virus tally stands at 5,24,513. With 293 new deaths, the fatality toll has crossed the 18,000 mark in the state. In the last 24 hours, around 6,711 patients were recovered and discharged from hospitals.

As per the state health department, the number of recoveries in the state has reached 3,58,421. There are currently 1,47,735 active cases in the state and the death toll has reached 18,050. The recovery rate in the state now stands at 68.33 percent.

Mumbai reported 925 new coronavirus infected cases on Monday, taking the total caseload of the city to 1,24,322. With 46 more patients succumbing to the virus, the death toll has gone up to 6,842.  The total number of recoveries have reached 97,993 and currently, there are 19,190 active cases across the city.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), which includes Mumbai and its adjoining areas, has reported 2,523 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking its total to 2,69, 391. A total of 115 new deaths took the fatality toll to 10,856 in the region. 

On Monday, Pune city reported 779 fresh cases which took to the city's coronavirus count to 71,712. With 24 new fatalities, the city's death toll has climbed to 1,826.

Former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya took to Twitter on Monday to announce that him and his wife Medha Somaiya have been tested positive for the coronavirus infection and hospitalized. Earlier in the day, it was reported that Sujitsingh Thakur, Maharashtra Legislative Council member from Osmanabad had also tested positive.
