Maharashtra has witnessed a shift in Coronavirus cases from Mumbai and Thane to areas like Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur, and this increase has raised several concerns among the public. However, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray recently addressed the issues by asking to fight coronavirus in a similar manner to a freedom struggle.

He further emphasised that with the help of the committees, NGOs, healthcare officials and others, we need to create awareness regarding the infection on a large scale. The statements were made while reviewing the situation of Coronavirus cases in Western Maharashtra.

Adding more to the discussion, he said that we should let the mistakes made in some other districts repeat again. While other countries are only fighting COVID-19, we had to also look at controlling the spread amidst several festivities like Ganeshotsav, Moharram and will have to do during the upcoming Navratra, Dussehra, and Diwali. Moreover, the rainfall has been a concern too, as several places in the state were flooded, and with this, the challenges have only grown bigger.

Offering solutions to the problem, he said that despite the facilities that are set up in the state, one needs to focus on some key issues at a personal level, following which good results can be seen in merely 15 days. He advised the public to take the 'Chase the Virus' campaign more seriously and follow strict rules issues for containment zones, as increasing test numbers and door-to-door surveys can help identify more cases.

Officials at the government are looking at conducting many more door-to-door surveys with the help of volunteers, groups, and medical assistants, as these tests would help in investigating the health of the family at the earliest stages. Complete information will be sought to understand one's symptoms related to other issues, travel habits and history, learning their safety and distancing rules and more.

CM Thackeray further stated that using a mask will be mandatory at all times, even if the vaccine is launched. Moreover, maintaining social distancing, avoiding crowds, frequently washing hands would be very important and if needed, the government will offer help in setting up the facility.
