Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the city of Mumbai have been decreasing significantly, and the condition of the patients has improved over the last few weeks. The spread of the virus is also controlled, and with the efforts put by the state government and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the doubling rate of COVID-19 has improved.

This has been a great relief for the administration, as the doubling rate has now gone up to 300 days. The report released by the BMC shows that states that out of all the wards in the city, Marine lines has the highest doubling rate of 809 days, while wards E, B, F-South and G-North have the doubling rate of more than 500 days.

At present, the average patient growth rate in Mumbai has come down to 0.22 per cent, and the number of active patients is also steadily declining. Moreover, there are 11,557 active corona patients in Mumbai.

The corporation has started a special campaign to test the traders, hawkers and businessmen in the market areas across the city. The decision was taken to keep a check on COVID-19 spread as markets are often crowded these days due to the festivities. Officials state that a team will be responsible to conduct tests regularly on various shopkeepers, hotel employees, BEST drivers and others, and if infected patients are identified during this test, they will have to undergo the necessary medical treatments. The teams are also offering suggestions and counselling whenever needed.

CM Uddhav Thackeray has mentioned that the state could see a second wave of coronavirus if the norms are not followed strictly, and has directed all the civic administrations to ensure safety at all times. BMC officials are ready and facilities have been prepared for patients, in case needed. Meanwhile, Free medical testing facilities are available at 244 places such as various dispensaries and hospitals under the jurisdiction of the BMC.
