As the cases of coronavirus increase in Mumbai, the doubling rate in the city has reached 61 days whereas the recovery rate is 81 per cent.

In the past one week, 18,949 fresh cases of the coronavirus were reported in Mumbai. Post the relaxations in the lockdown norms along with the celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi, the doubling rate has gone up. Earlier, it was 93 days whereas currently, it is 61 days. Moreover, the number of patients testing positive for the coronavirus has also increased from 1,000 to 1,300 to 2,000 to 2,500 cases every day.

From September 17 to 20, approximately 2,200 to 2,300 cases of the coronavirus were reported every day. However, on September 21, the cases slowly witnessed a drop. In view of the fluctuating numbers, the municipality has taken measures to contain the spread of the disease.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray amidst the surge in cases of coronavirus had earlier provided the progress report of 'My Family, My Responsibility' campaign. The campaign which entails door-to-door survey for tracing and treating the patients suffering from the coronavirus aims to identify people with co-morbidities, raising awareness and educating citizens on safety measures to break the chain transmission. The CM stated that 69.94 lakh households have been surveyed via 55,268 teams. Moreover, out of 37,733 suspected cases, 4,517 positive patients have been detected.
