State reports girl birthrates declining

The state government’s health department have issued a report which states that girls birth rates have come down. According to the state’s report, there were 1000 boys in comparison to 907 girls. However, according to 2016 health report, 8% have come down and 899 girls birthrates are seen across the state. In Mumbai city, the ratio has come down from 1000 girls to 936. In 2014, there were 1000 boys in comparison to 931 girls and in 2015 the ratio came down to 926.

In Maharashtra, Washim district saw 62% fewer girl birthrates. It is followed by Pune, Usmanabad where there is 53% girls birth rates have come down. Irrespective of this, girls birthrates have increased by 78% in Bhandara. Followed by Bhandara, girls birthrates have also increased in Parbhani and Latur. It is believed that there should be at least 951 girls in comparison to 1000 boys. If the ratio declines then it is of concern.
