The number of coronavirus cases in the city of Mumbai has been reducing over the last few weeks, and as per the recent reports released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the growth rate of 19 out of 24 wards in Mumbai, has dropped to less than one per cent.

As per the data, the growth rate across wards in Mumbai is between 0.57 to 1.34, where five wards - D, C, RC, HW, and RS - have the rate of growth more than 1 per cent. The average growth rate of the city currently stands at 0.81 per cent, and 13 wards in Mumbai have a rate lesser than the average. 

Wards M-East, L, and S have the lowest growth rate of 0.57 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively. Three wards in Mumbai are under the BMC scanner, as the growth rate is more than 1.2 per cent. Strict actions are being taken in these wards to contain the spread of the virus.


As of August 16, 2020, Wards K-East, P-North and G-North have the most number of coronavirus cases, however, none of these wards have the most number of active cases. Wards R-Central and R-South have become the new hotspots, as only two have more than 1000 active cases.

The doubling rate of coronavirus cases in Mumbai currently stands at an average of 86 days. Six wards in the city have a doubling rate of more than 100 days, whereas two wards have the lowest doubling rate of 53 days. Nine wards in the city have a doubling rate of less than the city average.
