The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) run Shatabdi Hospital at Kandivali will soon be converted into a super speciality hospital, and the information regarding the same was shared recently by the officials.

Keeping this in mind, the hospitals will be updated with facilities like cardiology, neurosurgery, CT scan etc. which will be made available for the patients visiting the hospital. This decision is also said to bring relief for the citizens of Kandivali area who will now be able to make use of the health facilities.

It is said that several patients from Mumbai suburbs are admitted to Shatabdi Hospital, and the decision was taken after thorough consideration, as it will also benefit the patients in the suburbs. The work of this hospital has been approved by the Environment Department under the State Government, and the hospital building will have 10 floors, and at least 325 beds, informed the administrative officials.

As Kandivali's Shatabdi Hospital is important for the people of the western suburbs, concerned representatives presented the case and had repeatedly demanded the municipal administration to upgrade the hospital, thereby making it super speciality with necessary facilities.

The decision was thoroughly discussed and the approval of the environment department required for the development of this hospital was pending for a few months. However, with this being approved, a major hurdle in the hospital work has been removed. Reports state that only 149 trees will be cut down and the remaining trees will be replanted in the premises of this hospital. The tender for the process will be released soon and the administration intends to complete the work soon by hiring a contractor.
