Vaccination is considered to be one of the most effective ways to control the spread of coronavirus and the state government, over the last few months, has been focused towards administering vaccines to a large number of citizens. Directives are being followed as given by the central government. Sharing more details about the same State Health Minister, Rajesh Tope, recently stated that all the citizens in Maharashtra will be administered with the first dose of the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine  by November 30, 2021.

The information was shared at a meeting with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandvia, on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Officials reviewed the COVID-19 vaccination status of all the states in India. Minister Tope added that extensive efforts are being made by the state government to vaccinate as many citizens as possible in the state. Campaigns like Kavach Kundal and Yuva Swasthya were implemented to speed up the same along with vaccination camps and extension of the duration.

He emphasised that officials from various departments like health, revenue, urban development, education are working together in making the vaccination campaigns successful. Moreover, public awareness programs are also being organised to clear the doubts of the citizens about vaccination and to held reduce vaccine hesitancy. Necessary steps are being taken by personalities and religious leaders from various fields to share the right message.

Currently, an interval of 28-days is being followed between two doses of Covaxin, and instructions are being followed as directed. On the other hand, an interval of 84 days between two doses of Covishield vaccine has been fixed. Minister Tope requested the ministry to reduce the gap between the two doses of Covishield vaccine as this could help in expediting the vaccination programs.

Meanwhile, Mahashtra, on November 9, crossed the threshold of administering 100 million coronavirus vaccine doses. Public Health Additional Chief Secretary Dr Pradeep Vyas accorded this accomplishment to the active involvement of all the district officers, he also gave his congratulations and best wishes. With this, it has become the second state in India after Uttar Pradesh to reach the number.

On the other hand, State Pediatric Task Force has advised priority COVID-19 vaccination of children with medical conditions. Maharashtra’s pediatric task force has recommended that priority be accorded to children with obesity, juvenile diabetes, malnutrition and other medical issues when it comes to vaccination.
