At 4 pm on Tuesday, November 9, Maharashtra crossed the threshold of administering 100 million coronavirus vaccine doses, highlighted reports.

Public Health Additional Chief Secretary Dr Pradeep Vyas accorded this accomplishment to the active involvement of all the district officers, he also gave his congratulations and best wishes. With this, it has become the second state in India after Uttar Pradesh to reach the number.

Till 5 pm on Tuesday, 4,07,875 beneficiaries who were eligible were inoculated against the novel COVID-19. Currently, 6,80,28,164 have attained their first jab whilst 3,20,37,073 have been administered their second dose in the state, mentioned accounts.

This development comes to post the direction by Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, to all district officials to ensure that by November 30, all citizens in the state should at least attain their first jab. Thackeray had added that whilst the number of cases had dwindled in the state, citizens have been urged to adhere to the protocols. Adding that while the rate of infection is low, the number of testings shouldn’t follow a similar trend.

Similarly, the state public health minister, Rajesh Tope had asked the local officials to be involved in the vaccination drive. Moreover, on October 21, India had crossed the 100-cr inoculation mark.
