On Monday, July 12, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope stated that Maharashtra needs at least three crore vaccine doses for the coronavirus per month in order to vaccinate the entire eligible population against COVID-19.

Speaking about the same Tope added that the capacity of the state is to vaccinate 15 lakh, people, daily, but as of now only two to three lakh people are being inoculated in a day because of the "shortage of vaccine doses".

According to reports, "Three days ago, we got seven lakh vaccine doses. The stock will be exhausted by the end of the day (July 12). We have got more than 3.60 crore vaccine doses so far and this includes about 25 lakh doses purchased directly by the state government,"

Moreover, as per official data, till Sunday, a total of 3,65,25,990 vaccine doses were administered in the state.

On the other hand, whilst Sanofi offers recombinant antigens, GSK will provide pandemic adjuvant, both of which have proven to be successful against influenza. Both of them have received the go-ahead of conducting their Phase 3 clinical study in India. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety, efficacy and other critical components that this covid vaccine can provide.

The study will be conducted on an international, random and double-blinded method, with over 35000, 18 years or older candidates across a spectrum of nations that include the USA, Africa, Asia and Latin America.
