Under the National Pulse Polio Immunisation Campaign, on Sunday, March 3, polio doses were given to 95,64,613 children aged between 0 to 5 years of the state. Health Minister Prof. Dr. Tanaji Sawant appealed to the people of the state to give polio vaccine to all their children below 5 years of age.

A total of 89,299 booth and transit teams, 27,553 mobile teams, 15,430 night teams and 642 night teams conducted the vaccination drive in the state. After this, 3 days in rural areas and 5 days in urban areas Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) will be implemented and the missed children will be vaccinated door to door.

State level control officers were appointed and through them the campaign was monitored in all districts and municipalities. Also, observers were appointed at the district level and taluka level and the campaign was monitored through them. All government departments, NGOs, World Health Organization, UNICEF, J. S.I., A.P. The participation of NGOs helped in making the campaign 100% successful.

Pulse polio vaccination campaign is being run since 1995 under the polio eradication program in the country. On March 3, 2024, the National Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign was implemented in the state as per the guidelines of the Central Government.

It is pertinent to note that on March 27, 2014, the World Health Organization certified India as polio free. Immigration from polio-affected countries may increase the risk of polio cases in the country. For this, it is necessary to effectively implement the pulse polio vaccination campaign to eradicate polio.
