Maharashtra's COVID-19 patient growth rate is third-highest in the world

The state, on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, registered 60,212 new patients while Brazil had 80,157 and the United States had 77,720 new cases. It is said that Maharashtra accounts for 8.1 per cent of the world's new cases.

Coronavirus infection has spread across Maharashtra and the state health department, over the last few weeks, has noticed a spike in the number of patients, which has raised concerns for the government. Data revealed by the Health Department states that Maharashtra has the highest number of coronavirus patients in the country, with the highest daily growth rate too.

Shockingly, Maharashtra ranks third in the world in terms of new cases. Brazil and United States are on the top in the list of worst affected places in the world, and this is followed by Maharashtra in the third place.

The state, on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, registered 60,212 new patients while Brazil had 80,157 and the United States had 77,720 new cases. It is said that Maharashtra accounts for 8.1 per cent of the world's new cases.

Furthermore, the state recorded 281 COVID-related deaths on Tuesday, and 31,624 patients were cured. 

The total number of patients in Maharashtra has now reached 35,19,208 and the number of minors has reached 58,526. So far, 28,66,097 people have been treated, while 5,93,042 corona patients are currently undergoing treatment.

Mumbai recorded 7m873 new coronavirus patients  on April 13, 2021, with 27 deaths. A total of 8,804 people in the city were treated successfully. As of now, the overall tally in Mumbai has reached 5,35,264 and 4,35,953 people have successfully overcome corona. Currently, 86,098 patients are currently undergoing treatment.

Observing the rise in COVID-19 cases, CM Uddhav Thackeray, while addressing the state on April 13, announced Sec 144 from April 14 to May 1, 2021. He said that the state will observe curfew from 7am to 8pm where only essential services will be permitted. Public activities have been prohibited for the next 15 days.
