Maharashtra resumed vaccination for citizens above 18 years of age from Tuesday, June 23. On this first day, more than 5.52 lakhs people were inoculated in the state till 8 pm.

According to reports, on Tuesday, June 22, Maharashtra administered a record 5,52,909 doses of the vaccine. It is the highest single-day record of the state after April 26 when 5.34 lakh beneficiaries were vaccinated against COVID-19.

However, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Pradeep Vyas said that the actual figure could increase further.

The number of doses administered so far in Maharashtra stands at 2,80,82,920, officials said. As of now, 2,25,48,801 beneficiaries in the state have received their first vaccine dose and of them, 55,34,119 got their second dose.

Maharashtra tops the list followed by Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, with 2,63,22,777, 2,25,91,453 and 2,16,92,192 doses respectively.

Meanwhile, a total of 57,42,258 patients have recovered so far in the state. As a result, the recovery rate in the state is 95.9 per cent.

At present, the death rate in the state is 1.98 per cent. Out of 3,98,86,554 laboratory samples tested till date, 59,87,521 (15.01 per cent) samples have tested positive. Besides, there are 6,58,863 persons in Home Quarantine and 4,196 persons in Institutional Quarantine in the State currently.

The number of active patients in the state has reached 1,23,340. There are 14,453 active patients in Mumbai, 16,955 in Pune and 13,570 in Thane district. The number of active patients in Kolhapur is 9,023. In Nagpur district, this number has increased to 3,772.
