There was a fear that just like Ganesotsav 2020, there may be a spike in daily cases even post-Diwali in Mumbai. To keep the spread in check, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had started testing food delivery agents, salon staffers, and security guards wards wise. Due to increased testing and there is a decreased positivity rate by 5 per cent which is definitely good signs but the city is not out of the woods yet.

BMC officials feel that the time till Mid-December can be crucial. One of the reasons for the same is that now is the time for a season change. Furthermore, they want to gauge if the numbers have indeed established post-Diwali and rule out any possibility of a second wave.

The BMC had imposed a partial lockdown in June 2020 in the areas of Malad, Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar were there was a spike in the number of coronavirus cases in the city.

According to the BMC data as of December 6, 2020, R-Central ward, that consists of Borivali, has the highest number of active cases which takes the tally up to 1,071 with an average growth rate of 0.26 per cent. Below mentioned is the ward wise information which has the highest number of active cases.
