Based on information elucidated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Saturday, November 13, Mumbai successfully achieved the target of administering the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The first jab has been administered to 92,36,500 citizens according to the civic authority. Thus, they are now urging all to get their second doses promptly.

They went on to thank the locals for their support and response to the campaign, adding that this was a step towards becoming coronavirus free Mumbai. 

The civic authority elaborated that this entails the performance at all government, municipal and private vaccination centres in the island city. Further adding that the first and second doses in the Mumbai metropolitan area were given a total of 1.5 crore doses on November 10, 2021. Following that, the BMC administration has reached another milestone in the COVID-19 vaccination campaign by reaching the first dose target.

According to the census data and the number of eligible citizens, the government had set a target for all local bodies. In a series of tweets it highlighted that in the area of Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation, about 92,365,00 eligible citizens are to be vaccinated. Of which 92,39,902 citizens have taken the first dose till 12 noon on Saturday, according to the national vaccination website CoWin. They thus believe that the objective of the first level has been achieved 100 per cent.

They reported that nearly 59,83,452 Mumbaikars have taken the second dose till 12 noon on Saturday.
