According to the latest reports, the Maharashtra government has instructed all districts to see to it that effective preparedness and required action are taken against Monkeypox in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Based on accounts, in the aftermath of this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reserved a 28-bed war at the Kasturba Hospital, the only infectious diseases hospital in the state. Officials have issued guidelines on the lines of the central government which include screening and testing of all suspect cases at the entry point as well as in the community. This will either by means of hospital-based surveillance and targeted surveillance by measles surveillance or intervention sites identified by NACO for MSM, the FSW population).

Narratives suggest that senior health officials have asked all medical officers to screen passengers from endemic and non-endemic countries that had reported outbreaks. Additionally, intensive risk communication for healthcare workers at identified sites in health facilities like skin, paediatric OPDs, immunization clinics, intervention sites identified by NACO, amongst others and the public regarding simple preventive strategies as well as the need for quick reporting of cases should be done, read the advisory.  

Moreover, hospitals should be identified and requisite human resource and logistic support must be offered at identified hospitals quipped to manage suspected confirmed cases of Monkeypox, mentioned the advisory.
