Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar was discharged from civic-run Seven Hills Hospital on Sunday. She was undergoing treatment at the private hospital after testing positive for the coronavirus on September 10.
Pednekar has returned to her home after recovering from COVID-19 and has home quarantined herself for the next 14 days, as a precautionary measure. The Mayor has been active during the coronavirus outbreak and is expected to resume work soon.
Earlier, Pednekar had revealed that her Rapid Antigen test was positive but she is asymptomatic. All members of her family have also undergone Covid-19 tests as a precautionary measure.
At the initial stage of the coronavirus outbreak in Mumbai, Pednekar was seen wearing a nurse uniform and visited several hospitals in the metropolitan to take stock of the COVID-19 situation.
Pednekar, senior Shiv Sena leader, took over as the 7th woman Mayor of the country's commercial capital in November 2019. She expressed hope that with the prayers and blessings of everybody, she would soon bounce back to serve the people of Mumbai.
In the month of August, Pednekar had lost her elder brother - Sunil Kadam - to novel coronavirus. At that time, she had penned an emotional poem dedicated to her late brother.
Recently, Maharashtra Minister of State (MoS) for Water Resources and Education, Bacchu Kadu was tested positive for the coronavirus. State Energy Minister Nitin Raut and Rural Development Minister Hasan Mushrif have also tested corona positive. Till now, 11 cabinet ministers have been tested in the Uddhav Thackeray government.
