The 'Hindu Hrudayamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Dawakhana' started by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is getting a good response from the citizens. Therefore, now the municipal corporation is inclined to provide more facilities to the citizens in 'Aapla Dawakhana'. Accordingly, the civic body will soon be providing physiotherapy in 'Apa Dawakhana'. At present this facility will be started in three to four clinics. Keeping in view the response it will get, this facility will be introduced in other hospitals in a phased manner.


Physiotherapy facility is currently available in all important hospitals of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. However, considering the increasing number of patients, the Municipal Corporation has decided to provide this facility in 'Apala Dawakhana'. Meanwhile, many patients cannot afford to come to the hospital for physiotherapy every day. So this facility will be made available near their homes. The process of purchasing necessary equipment for physiotherapy is underway. This facility will be made available in 'Aapla Dawakhana' in the next one-two months," said a senior official of the Municipal Corporation's Health Department.

More than 16 thousand patients are treated daily in 'Aapla Dawakhana'. Also 147 types of blood tests are done. So far, more than 20 lakh patients have been treated in 'Aapla Dawakhana' everywhere. The Municipal Corporation has set a target to increase the number of 'Aapla Dawakhana' to 250 by the end of December.

Accident patients, patients with chronic diseases like COPD, physical problems, patients suffering from diseases like paralysis, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis need physiotherapy. Officials said that since this facility has been made available in 'Aapla Dawakhana', these patients will be able to get physiotherapy close to their homes.
