The state government has undertaken various activities related to health through the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) so that the diseases of the citizens of the urban as well as rural areas are diagnosed in time and they get better health facilities. But now these activities are going to be implemented through private hospitals in Mumbai, so this scheme of the government will help to reach more citizens.


Citizens in rural areas of the state as well as urban slums are not aware of their health. Due to this, diseases like tuberculosis, oral diseases, and cancer are increasing in a big way. Various activities have been undertaken by the medical department to create awareness among the citizens. It includes oral health missions, treatment for diseases like obesity, tuberculosis, breast cancer, organ donation, blood donation, cataract, thyroid and osteoporosis. Among them, the activities of treatment for tuberculosis, breast cancer, organ donation, blood donation have been started by the medical department. Activities related to thyroid and osteoporosis will be launched soon. 


Various efforts are being made through the Directorate of Medical Education and Research to reach more citizens. Accordingly, a special meeting of private hospitals in Mumbai was held on March 28.


In this meeting, Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai, Bombay Hospital, Global Hospital, Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital, Wockhardt Hospital, P.D. Representatives from Hinduja Hospital, Lilavati Hospital, Nanavati Hospital, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Fortis, Jupiter and Apollo Hospitals were invited. Also four medical colleges of Mumbai Municipal Corporation and heads of three hospitals of the State Government were invited. 


On this occasion, instructions were given to implement treatment plans for various diseases through private hospitals throughout the year and to take the records of all the patients and fill the information on the government portal. So that it will help in collecting proper information about these diseases. On this occasion, representatives of private hospitals also showed a positive attitude towards implementing this activity.
