COVID-19 cases in the city continue to catapult with 3,671 new positive patients being reported on Thursday, December 30, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data. However, in a sense of respite, zero fatalities were reported.

With 46337 total tests done, total active patients in the city now stand at 11,360. On the other hand, 371 positive patients recovered and were thus discharged. The recovery rate of the island city has also fallen to 96 per cent.

Based on accounts, from the total cases in Mumbai, Dharavi recorded 20 cases which are reported to be the highest since May 18.

Moreover, the growth rate of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai from December 23 to 29 is at 0.14 per cent. With this, the doubling rate is at 505 days.

According to the containment measures taken on December 29, there are four active containment zones in the city. Apart from this, there are 88 sealed buildings in the Greater Mumbai Area.

Amid the rising coronavirus cases in the city and threat of the Omicron variant, Mumbai Police has imposed CrPC section 144 in the island city from December 30 to January 7. Therefore, New Year celebrations in closed or open spaces in restaurants, hotels, bars, pubs, resorts and clubs have been prohibited from December 30 to January 7.
