According to sources, Nair Dental College and Hospital in Mumbai has been ranked fifth in the list of best dental colleges in the country by the Week magazine. In another survey, Nair College ranks third in the list of public dental colleges.
As per reports, the college has been ranked third in the government college group in a survey conducted by the Outlook magazine on the performance evaluation of selected dental colleges, both public and private. This year, three different surveys were conducted to select the best dental colleges from various levels of government and private sector dental colleges and hospitals across the country. ‘
On the other hand, amidst the outbreak of the coronavirus, the Indian Council of Medical Research had allowed Nair Hospital to conduct convalescent plasma therapy on patients affected by the coronavirus. Plasma therapy with regards to the novel coronavirus pertains to the method in which the blood plasma is taken from the patients who have recovered from COVID-19 infection and are then added to the cell cultures in order to effectively let the antibodies in the plasma neutralize the virus and save the life of a newly infected person.
The Nair Hospital blood bank had earlier collected 12 units of convalescent plasma from recovered patients and one was even used on a patient at Lilavati, who later succumbed to the coronavirus.
