A new drive-in vaccination centre has been set up inside the parking lot of Oberoi Mall near the Western Expressway in Goregaon East. The centre was inaugurated on Monday, June 7, by local MLA and former minister Ravindra Vaikar.

Relevant officers and employees of the Corporation were present at the inauguration. The drive-in Vaccination Center was inaugurated in the presence of a few dignitaries without holding any ceremony in compliance with the Covid Infection Prevention Rules.

Under the guidance of State Industry Minister Subhash Desai, MP Gajanan Kirtikar, MLA Sunil Prabhu, this drive-in vaccination centre has been started with the efforts of Municipal Corporation's Architectural Committee (Suburbs) Chairman and Ward No. 51 Corporator Swapnil Tembwalkar.

This centre has kept the option for 45 plus beneficiaries to be able to reach out to more people. The covishield vaccine dose will be administered to the beneficiaries.

For smooth coordination, two separate entry and exit points will be maintained and the parking lot is spacious enough to accommodate more than 100 cars at a time. Even if the malls reopen soon after restrictions are eased, the drive-in centre will continue to operate with all precautionary norms, said Tembwalkar.

With the launching of this new centre, it has taken the total number of drive-in centres operational in the western suburbs to four. Earlier, drive-in vaccination centres were started in Andheri Sports Complex, followed by Growel's 101 malls and Infiniti mall.

Dadar’s first-ever 'Drive-in Vaccination' centre has been receiving a good response. After that, the municipality had said that drive-in vaccination centres would be soon started in 7 places.
