The state social justice department has decided to give preference to all specially-abled people working in government establishments in availing COVID test, treatment and vaccination facility without waiting in the queue.

The state also decided to continue the facility of ‘work from home’ for specially-abled employees in the government sector.

Moreover, on Monday, May 3, clear instructions were issued that all persons with disabilities in the state should be given priority for coronavirus screening or testing, treatment and vaccination. Minister for social justice Dhananjay Munde said due to more vulnerability for the disease, the department instructed respective authorities to give priority to specially-abled persons.

In a letter, the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance has informed the Department of Health, the Department of Urban Development, the Department of Rural Development as well as the Department of Medical Education and Medicine stating that this decision should be strictly implemented.

The state government while announcing restrictions had mentioned that various offices are allowed to operate in the presence of 15 per cent employees. However, in a circular issued on Monday, it has been decided to exempt the disabled officers and employees of the state government service from work and is allowed to work from home. It has been directed that the work from home option should be made available to the concerned employees by the concerned departments / establishments. In doing so, instructions have been given to ensure that office work is not affected.
