The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has decided to organize a special vaccination for the women citizens in Maharashtra in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Moreover, the civic body has decided to conduct the special vaccination campaign for COVID-19 at Parking Plaza one day in the fourth week of every month. According to sources, the TMC has conducted nine lakh vaccinations so far. Of these, 4,77,550 men and 4,23,488 women have been vaccinated. The total number of women vaccinated is low.

Therefore, a women-only vaccination drive will be held at the Parking Plaza one day in the fourth week of each month to ensure maximum vaccination of women as well.

On the other hand, the TMC had earlier decided to conduct a special COVID-19 vaccination drive for divyangs (differently-abled) who are above the age of 18. The sessions will take place at ward-wise selected health centres in the city every Friday, from 11 am to 2 pm, and the beneficiaries can take the jab by showing their identity card.

A special vaccination drive is being carried out to ensure that differently-abled persons are not deprived of vaccination and are vaccinated at the nearest health centre. The walk-in facility will have 100 doses at each centre, said a TMC official.
