Coronavirus cases in the state of Maharashtra have seen a rapid increase, and four divisions have a large number of COVID19 patients. Keeping this in mind, the state government along with the Municipal Corporations are trying their best to curb the spread by offering timely treatment to the citizens.

However, the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, recently launched the 'My Family, My Responsibility' (Majhe Kutumb, Majhi Jababdari) campaign. This was aimed at spreading awareness about the COVID-19 conditions, thereby ensuring the safety of self and the families. The message regarding the same was passed to all the citizens of the state, through various means.

Under this campaign, a health survey of more than 8 crore population will be conducted across rural areas of the state, and addressing the same, CM Uddhav Thackeray, on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, stated that the campaign is focused towards keeping everyone's family safe, thereby making it not just a government's movement but a people's movement.

He also reviewed the implementation of this campaign through the Zilla Parishads, via online conferencing. He emphasised that the officials should focus on identifying Sari and ILI patients more rigorously, along with the COVID-19  patients. Moreover, he asked the teams to submit the reports of the survey teams, in a timely manner, after they have been checked daily by the respective officers and the agencies.

He also clarified that public awareness should be created in an aggressive manner to ensure families are safe and spread the message across the population with increased participation would make it more effective.

Currently, a health survey has been conducted across 34 districts in the rural areas of the state. Under the 'My Family, My Responsibility' campaign, a total of 24 lakh families have been visited by the teams. Zilla Parishad has given the target of visiting 1.84 crore families, out of which 24 lakh families have been visited. This means that over 13 per cent target has been achieved.
