BMC has announced that antigen tests will be conducted at malls, railway stations and bus stations in Mumbai. Every customer coming to the shopping malls in Mumbai will be admitted in the premises only after the antigen test is negative.

As the second wave of COVID-19 wave hits Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has ordered to increase the number of daily tests to 50,000. At present, 20,000 to 23,000 tests are being conducted daily in Mumbai.

Under this mission, BMC has announced that antigen tests will be conducted at malls, railway stations and bus stations in Mumbai. Every customer coming to the shopping malls in Mumbai will be allowed an entry in the premises only after the result of their antigen test comes out to be negative.

Moreover, coronavirus testing has been made mandatory for the staff of Khau Galli, restaurants and hostels in Mumbai.

Apart from this, 1000 passengers will be tested daily at Bandra, Dadar, Bombay Central, CSMT, Kurla, Andheri and Borivali stations. The administration will pay special attention to the passengers coming from Vidarbha. Even, at the main bus stand in Mumbai, Dadar, Parel, 1000 passengers will be tested daily.

The corporation will also take strict steps to increase vaccination in private hospitals. Vaccination will be started in 43 private hospitals in Mumbai. 1,000 vaccinations will be made compulsory in private hospitals every day. At present, on an average, 45,000 people are vaccinated in Mumbai every day. Of these, nearly 5,000 are vaccinated in private hospitals.

The expected number of vaccinations could not be achieved and at the same time, if there are no proper facilities as per the rules, the administration will remove the right to vaccinate private hospitals.

The Centre has approved 134 more private hospitals for vaccination on Thursday, March 18.
