Thane: Kalwa’s CSM hospital in shambles; Doctor’s shortage despite CM's Visit

Kalwa’s known Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital (CSMH) is facing an acute shortage of doctors and lack of facilities despite Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde’s visit, as per the reports by Free Press Journal. The CM had inspected various facilities during his visit in March.

During his visit in March, he had suspended Dr Yogesh Sharma and deputy dean Dr. Suchitkumar Jamkhedkar for the lack of facilities. Adhering to the issue, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) deputy commissioner of the health department Umesh Birari made a visit to the hospital and took an internal meeting to find out the reason for lack of facilities and doctors. Along with doctors, the hospital is facing acute shortage of nurses and ward boys.

As per the media report by FPJ, there are only four chief medical officers when the requirement is 11 in the 500-bedded CSMH hospital.
