According to the latest report, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) on Tuesday, August 10, announced that it is planning to implement a 24*7 vaccination drive in the city.

The Thane Mayor Naresh Mhaske stated that the civic body is working to run the vaccination drive 24x7 if there is a steady supply of vaccine, reported TOI.

Mhaske said that TMC has administered nearly eight lakh jabs in the last seven months and covered a majority of health and frontline workers.

This comes at a time when the Maharashtra government and the Central government is taking measure to increase the inoculation speed across the nation.

Earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner (BMC) on March 9 allowed the hospitals to carry out 24x7 vaccination drives, as per the available resources.

Besides, the BMC, Vaccine on Wheels and American India Foundation have joined hands to facilitate four mobile vaccination centres in the city. The initiative was flagged off recently by Additional Municipal Commissioner (Western Suburbs) Suresh Kakani, and officials believe that the decision would help several citizens in Mumbai who are facing trouble with reaching a vaccination centre.
