Mumbai - Happy news for all those cardiac patients across India, the government has announced that the prices of coronary stents to be slashed by 85%. The maximum retail price is capped at Rs 7,260 for bare metal ones and Rs 29,600 for drug-eluting variety. A stent is a tube made of either metal or plastic that gets inserted into the lumen of an anatomic vessel or duct to keep the passageway open. Patients need not dilly-dally now for angioplasty.
