As Mumbai grapples with the second wave of coronavirus, various groups in the city are endeavouring to help COVID-19 patients and their families with medical needs such as the supply of oxygen in hospitals as well as the need for medicines.

During this crucial time, many social organizations are supplying free oxygen respectively in the city. Here is a list of some organizations in Mumbai and suburbs that provide free oxygen cylinders to the needy:

Hemkunt Foundation:

The organization works in Mumbai and Gurgaon. It is a non-governmental organization (NGO) and was established in 2010. Community Development Director, Hartirath Singh informed in a tweet that the organization is working round the clock. This organization is supplying free oxygen cylinders to Mumbai from their Versova Gurdwara.

Unity and Dignity Foundation

This organization was started by Shahnawaz Sheikh, who lives in Mumbai. In the first wave of coronavirus, in 2020, the Unity and Dignity Foundation undertook the task of providing oxygen services to the needy. Currently, they are only providing free oxygen cylinders to COVID-19 patients. Shahnawaz sold his car for this work.

About 6000 cylinders have been supplied from their centre at Malvani. Shahnawaz said, "We are working 24 × 7 to provide free oxygen to the needy. They get an irregular supply of up to 50 cylinders a day from their sources in Bhiwandi.

The 32-year-old had also sold an SUV worth around INR 22 lakhs in 2020 to provide an uninterrupted supply of oxygen cylinders.

Seva Sahayog

The organization has centres at Ghatkopar, Thane and Navi Mumbai. Founded decades ago by Aditya Chouhan, the organization is working to provide relief to those affected by COVID-19. At present, they have stocks of 100 oxygen cylinders at each of their centres in Ghatkopar, Thane and Navi Mumbai which they are distributing.

In collaboration with Red Crescent, they are providing free oxygen services. Red Crescent has set up temporary oxygen plants in small mosques. From there, oxygen is being supplied to many places.

Speed Oxygen

Free oxygen services are also being provided to patients undergoing treatment at home through the organization. Vasai's Speed Company has started this project out of social sentiment. All you have to do is bring some documents.
