The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday, May 6, announced fresh guidelines for beneficiaries to get vaccinated today, May 7.

BMC has decided that all potential recipients will have to mandatorily book an appointment on the Co-Win app and that no walk-ins would be entertained.

It has been observed that people are standing in long queues outside the vaccination centres and videos of people crowding are circulating on social media. Hence, the civic body has taken this step to control overcrowding and avoid any inconvenience to citizens at vaccination centres.

However, the officials have made some exceptions. Taking to Twitter, BMC mentioned the following:

  • Health Care Workers and Frontline Workers can walk-in for the first as well as the second dose
  • 45+ due for the second dose of COVAXIN may walk-in but they will have to carry the first dose certificate/SMS
  • All Health Care Workers and Front Line Workers must walk in with authentic certification from the employer else they may be denied this exception

Meanwhile, BMC also informed that most centres on May 7 will open post 12 PM except the ones in Ward G/North, which includes Dharavi, Mahim, Koliwada and Dadar areas of Mumbai.

“Most of the centres shall begin administering the vaccine to 45+s post 12 PM, except Ward G/N. No walk-in for Covishield first or second dose. If you haven’t booked a slot, please don’t go to the centre. One can walk-in for second dose of Covaxin. Moreover, the citizens under 18-44 years of age may visit the centre as per their booking schedule,” clarified BMC.

The civic body also released a list of government and public vaccination centres which will vaccinate 45+ who booked slots online.
