According to the latest reports, the home quarantine COVID-19 cases has seen a fall of 71 per cent in the past 12 days even when there hasn't been a fall in the number of institutional quarantine cases.

Based on accounts, till February 1, in accordance with the Maharashtra health department data, 10,69,596 people were in home quarantine. The numbers fell to 3,13,457 by February 13. The drop in numbers has been attributed to the strict implementation of curbs, awareness about coronavirus amongst citizens and vaccination numbers by the state officials.

In the last two weeks, the daily number of cases of the novel virus in Maharashtra have been under 10,000, with in the last three days the daily reported cases have been under 6,000.

On the other hand, in Mumbai, the daily COVID-19 count fell below 200, for the first time in two months. On Monday, February 14, the city recorded 192 cases, the lowest one-day count since December 13, 2021, when 174 patients were detected with coronavirus.

It has been reported that the experts lauded the state government's management of the third wave with no spike in a few districts, even after the restrictions were eased. However, caution has to be undertaken in Mumbai where the Omicron is becoming the dominant variant

Suresh Kakani the additional municipal commissioner mentioned that home quarantine numbers have witnessed a drop since generally cases across Mumbai are falling. After this, active cases have also curtailed with an increase in the doubling and weekly growth rate. Adding that strict curbs played a pivotal role in reducing the number of cases.
