The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is slated to spend INR 7.29 core for consultancy work to alter the technology for the building of pile foundations for the pillar of bridges and interchanges for the coastal road project, stated accounts.

According to reports, on Friday, November 3, the proposal for the same will be put up before the standing committee meeting for the final go-ahead. For package 2 which is from Baroda Palace to the Worli end of the sea link, the project management consultant contract was accorded to the Egis-Colin joint venture.

The contract will be five years in duration and will witness a rise from INR 57.61 crore to INR 64.91 crore. In spite of this, the BMC will not need to incur additional expenses since the alteration of technology will assist in curtailing time and cost.

The technology change is reported to include the transition from multiple foundations to monopile foundations. Based on accounts, an official elaborated on how this will assist in reducing three months of the project completion.

The official added on how it will also help save INR 6.84 crore. However, presently, owing to technical factors, the civic authority will have to pay the consultant an additional fee. Later, the amount will be transferred to the BMC by the contractor for the coastal road project.
