Completion of Andheri-Dahisar Metro-7 line may get delayed

The contract between MMRDA and major infrastructure company Simplex has been terminated owing to execution delays and officials have now invited new tenders for the remaining Metro-7 project

MMRDA anticipates to complete the Andheri-Dahisar Metro-7 line in the next nine months. However, despite the closer deadline MMRDA has changed the contractor for the project citing delay in execution. As per reports, the old contractor - infrastructure major Simplex has been moved from the project work for the Andheri-Goregaon part of Metro-7

The current deadline for the completion of Metro-7 is October 2020, however it is feared that this change would delay the deadline. It is said that MMRDA has sent notices to the new contractor, Simplex, to speed up work, but it wasn't being done as planned. ₹348 crore worth project between Andheri and Goregaon spreading for over 5.5 km was finalised in April 2016, but officials have stated that it was kept incomplete for several months and not completed as planned. 

Sharing more information an MMRDA officials has mentioned that since the termination of this contract, the team has invited fresh tenders and is looking forward to appointing a new contractor for the remaining project.

The entire Metro-7 project is worth ₹6,208 crores and will connect Andheri east and Dahisar east, on the western express highway, spreading over 16.5 mm.
