Darrly D'Monte, the former resident editor of Times of India, now has a recreational ground in Bandra named after him. The said incident occurred on Sunday in Mumbai. 

It was in 1988, that he took over the reins as the resident editor of Times of India and left an immaculate mark in the field through his stupendous work. He left for the humble abode in March 2019 at 75 years of age. In honour of his memory, a ceremony was held on Sunday morning. Herein his family members conducted a tree plantation drive and the inauguration ceremony marked the fortification of his remembrance. 

Located at D'Monte road in Bandra west, the garden, "Late Darrly D'Monte Park", etches the memory of this noteworthy individual. Asif Zakaria, local Congress corporate is said to have initially moved the proposal which received the nod a couple of months ago in a BMC general body meeting.

Darrly D'Monte, is not just a revered journalist, writer, but also an environmentalist and activist. He was at the forefront of several civic activities in Mumbai. He led a citizen-driven initiative to build a promenade on the shore of Carter Road. He also conceptualized the "Celebrate Bandra", a public cultural event that laid the foundation for other such neighbourhood events in the city.
